Hogs headed to the Liberty Bowl…maybe?

Lots of folks are reporting that Arkansas is likely headed to Memphis this year to play in the Liberty Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 2.

The Liberty Bowl matches an SEC team against the Conference USA Champion, which will be decided next week in a game between Houston and East Carolina. No official announcement has been made, and neither University of Arkansas, nor Liberty Bowl officials would confirm that Arkansas has accepted an invitation to play in the game.

Still, everyone is pretty sure it’s a done deal. I know several of you have already purchased your tickets, and made hotel reservations.

The Liberty Bowl said they would make an announcement on Saturday. Still, Brandon Marcello points out on his Slophouse Blog that there have been a few hints.

On the official Liberty Bowl Facebook page, someone posted the following:

Official announcement regarding the teams participating in the 51st AutoZone Liberty Bowl will occur on Sunday at 4PM

Then, in the very same Facebook update, that person proceeded to post a link to this video:

Also, when choosing to purchase some Liberty Bowl merchandise, you have a choice of Arkansas merchandise, Conference USA merchandise, or Liberty Bowl merchandise. Like this Liberty Bowl t-shirt.

It’s still not official, but it looks like someone’s ready to sell some freakin’ tickets already.
