The annual Fayetteville High School Student Council Homeless Vigil fundraiser will be held tonight (Dec. 3), beginning at 5 pm.

This is the 12th year that FHS students have held the fundraiser which benefits families in need in the Fayetteville School District. In the past, the fundraiser has generated as much as $13,000. This year’s goal is $11,000.

Each year, the students sleep outside in makeshift shelters such as cardboard boxes, warming themselves by a fire in a barrel. Donations of cash and non-perishable food items are greatly appreciated and may be dropped off at the vigil, which will be held in front of the FHS gym on Stone Street.

You can also make a pledge to the vigil by sending an email to alan.wilbourn@fayar.net. Just makes sure to include the amount of your pledge and a mailing address to which a pledge statement can be mailed.
