Shortcuts: El Chico closes in Fayetteville
NWAonline’s Lana Flowers reports that the El Chico restaurant at 3854 N. Front St. in Fayetteville closed Monday night (Dec. 28, 2009) due to “a down economy.”
And just like they did when T.G.I. Friday’s closed, the folks at JJ’s Grill & Chill say they’ll honor El Chico gift cards (up to $50) at both locations in Fayetteville and Rogers.
El Chico has locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

I can’t believe that place stayed open as long as it did.

Gross or not, I wish they and TGIF could have hung on a little longer. I’m optimistic things are going to start picking up again in NWA. I’m not big on chain restaurants, but all these empty buildings in north Fayetteville sure wont make Fayetteville as enticing as it was just a few years ago. I just fear a dominoe effect, potentially messing up chains and non-chains alike. Again, good luck to the recently laid off restaurant folk……

we never ate their very often but I thought that place was pretty solid since it had been in business for the 11 years I’ve been here…
