Fayetteville Speaks: I want to Kiss a Pig

Hi, I’m Martha Cornwell Haguewood, a Realtor with Lindsey & Associates, Inc. and a candidate in the American Diabetes Association 2010 Kiss a Pig campaign. I am honored to be asked to be a candidate and am determined to make a difference in the fight against diabetes. Our theme this year is The Fab Boar and is slated to be another outstanding fundraiser.

You might ask yourself, why would anyone want to KISS A PIG??? I asked myself the same question and kept coming up with the same answer. I want to Kiss a Pig because it is an important cause and one that has far-reaching implications for all of us. What is Kiss a Pig Campaign? It is a fundraising event sponsored by the American Diabetes Association and it has been voted the best event in Northwest Arkansas for the past three years. Diabetes touches all of our lives in one way or another and this event raises awareness and funds in the fight to cure diabetes.

The candidate who raises the most money wins the dubious honor of Kissing a beautiful little Piglet, hence “Kiss a Pig.” There are several ways to raise funds which consist of monetary donations, obtaining donated items for both a silent and live auction and ticket and table sales. Every dollar counts for one vote regardless of which fundraising option is chosen.

My goal as a Kiss a Pig candidate is to WIN the competition. I am asking friends, family, clients, fellow Realtors and anyone who has been touched by diabetes to make a donation, buy a ticket, sponsor a table and attend the Gala that is held on the 27th of February at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers.

Please click on the link to the American Diabetes Association and make your donation today. Don’t wait to make a donation. There are over 24 Million diabetics in the United States and over 35,000 in Northwest Arkansas.

So, if you’d like to help in the fight against diabetes, please click here to make a donation today. I need your help so I can Kiss a Pig!!!
