Shortcuts: Fayetteville police arrest hit-and-run suspect
KFSM is reporting that the police have arrested a suspect in the fatal hit-and-run that occurred last month in Fayetteville.
Shamika Redden, age 28, was struck by a vehicle on Mount Comfort Road and killed on the evening of Dec. 13. Police have been seeking a suspect since the accident, and on Saturday, officers arrested Robert Ehrhardt after a patrolman noticed Ehrhardt’s Chevrolet S-10 pickup was missing its grill and had front-end damage.
According to the article, Ehrhardt told police the damage was due to a collision with construction equipment, but later admitted to striking Redden with his vehicle.
Ehrhardt was arrested on Saturday as is being charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, a felony. He could be charged with negligent homicide if police determine he was intoxicated or otherwise negligent, according to Washington County prosecuting attorney John Threet.

Mount Comfort is a road that has needed a pedestrian route for a long time. I have walked that road, and bicycled it, and never felt very safe. It needs to be widened enough for a bikeway to run along the side. Poor planning is how you get a road from a park to a grocery store/shopping district with no sidewalks or shoulders.

Don’t forget that the woman who got killed according the Fayetteville police press release stated that she had a record of public intoxication arrests among other things. She was known to be drunk quite often. She was thought to be walking in the middle of the road on Mt. Comfort. So really anyone could have hit her. Had the guy just stopped and did what he was suppose to do then he might have been let go given her record. Either due to unfounded fear or that he was himself drunk or on drugs he is now more screwed than ever.
