City seeking shelter volunteers

The City of Fayetteville is organizing some shelters in preparation for the winter storm headed our way, and Julie McQuade posted a note on Mayor Lioneld Jordan’s Facebook page calling for volunteers to work the shelters over the next few days.

The shelters will be activated as needed depending on the severity of the storm. If you’d like to volunteer at one of the shelters, call (479) 575-8302, or email Julie McQuade with the following information:

  1. Name
  2. Phone number
  3. Mobile phone number
  4. Email Address
  5. Which shelter you’re willing to volunteer at and will be able to get to safely (see list below)
  6. Days available (Friday, Jan. 29 – Friday, Feb. 5)
  7. Hours available (4-hour shifts preferred)

If significant power outages occur, shelters will be established on the east and west sides of town, and an overflow shelter could be established at Central United Methodist Church on Dickson St. if needed.
