The City of Fayetteville Solid Waste and Recycling Division announced today that compost is now ready for distribution to the public.

Beginning Tuesday, March 9, compost will be sold to Fayetteville residents at the compost site located at 1708 S. Armstrong Road. Operating hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. The site will also be open from 8 a.m. until 12:00 noon on the first two Saturdays of each month beginning in April and lasting through October.

The price for the compost is $20 plus tax per scoop. Each scoop is 2 cubic yards and weighs approximately 1,000 lbs. Residents will only be allowed to make one purchase each and will be limited to two scoops.

The compost has been screened to remove large sticks and other items for a finer product.

You must be a Fayetteville resident to purchase compost. Make sure to bring a recent water bill to prove residency.

Wow! Does the average Fayetteville resident need half a ton of compost?

What materials are composted to make this? Yard waste?
