Monday To-do: March 8

If you missed the Oscars last night and are considering Googling around for a list of the big winners, look no further than our own Wayne Bell’s prediction post from last week.

That’s right, Wayne nailed all six of the top categories. To quote Wayne, “I have yet to lose the Oscar pool at our Academy Awards party and I don’t intend to this year either.”

I haven’t heard from Wayne yet but I doubt he lost. How did everyone else do?

Tonight’s offerings are pretty slim but there’s a show at George’s featuring Bobaflex. I was hoping Bobaflex was some kind of infomercial tour of a new, Star Wars inspired workout machine that stretches your abdominal muscles in some exciting new way. Turns out it’s a band from West Virginia. Their sound is pretty unique when you give it a full listen (I listened to “Chemical Valley”). At first it sounds like metal. Then speed metal. Then punk. Then 80s hair rock. Respect. I looked these guys up and it turns out brothers Marty and Shaun McCoy are direct descendents of the infamous Hatfield-McCoy feud. Locals Calling Tokyo and Lifelike are set to open.

Here’s a list of what else we know about:
