Tim Freeman and Brandon Karn re-elected to A&P Commission

Tim Freeman of Krushiker Hospitality Group, Inc. was re-elected by a 4-3 vote to continue as chairman of the Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission yesterday.

Freeman was one of two nominees for the position. Current commission member Bob Davis of Eason Insurance was the other choice.

Freeman’s current term runs through April 1, 2012.

Brandon Karn, owner of Jammin’ Java, was also re-elected to his current position on the commission. His new term runs through April 1, 2014.

According to A&P director Marilyn Heifner, Karn was the only person to apply for his position after the city announced its board, committee and commission vacancies earlier this year.

The Advertising and Promotion Commission is the body that determines the use of the city advertising and promotion fund. The fund, which comes from the one percent sales tax that is collected from the city’s hotels, motels and restaurants (HMR), is used primarily for promotion and tourism.

The city’s primary tourism website, experiencefayetteville.com, is also home to some new information regarding the commission. Just last night, the website was updated to include current and past HMR reports, contact information for each commission member and information on A&P funding including a downloadable application for anyone interested in taking advantage of A&P funds.
