Tuesday To-do: March 9

I have a friend who doesn’t like cheese. I have another friend who is allergic to cheese. Both have told me that the most common question they get from people who hear about this for the first time is, “but what about pizza?”

The answer is the same for friend #1 and friend #2. That answer, of course, is, “If I can’t get it without cheese, I don’t eat it.”

I feel bad for friend #2 because he would like to be able to eat cheese. But with friend #1, I’ve always wondered what was so awful about cheese that he wouldn’t eat it.

Until now.

Tonight at George’s is Tea Leaf Green from San Francisco along with locals Mountain of Venus. Sometimes called a jam band, sometimes a rock band, TLG is most known for its loose, live sets that have a potential to be different every time.

In an effort to capture and broadcast the many facets of the TLG sound, local multimedia guru and walking music encyclopedia Dgold (Daniel Gold) is producing two webcasts today. The first is a live acoustic set with Tea Leaf Green on KXUA 88.3FM’s Honest Tunes sometime between 6-9 p.m. The second is the live set from George’s which will be broadcast via Ustream. For info on how to tune in to either, head over to dgold.info/radio.

Want jazz instead? The McLeod/Burson Quartet is at Scarpino’s tonight for the small cover fee of $5. As Steve reminded us yesterday, “If you are looking for jazz in Fayetteville, try Scarpinos on West Street every Tuesday night. Also, got to Digjazz.com.”

Besides Jeff Fox at JJ’s, that’s it for live music that we know of, but there’s a baseball game at Baum Stadium, a Jenga tournament at Smoke & Barrel and a garden walk at the BGO.
