Block Avenue construction begins March 24

  • by Todd Gill, Flyer Staff
    on March 24, 2010 at 2:21 pm

The City of Fayetteville is reporting that the Block Avenue renovation project, which was accepted earlier this month, will officially be underway as of 8 p.m. March 24 when Dickson Street is temporarily closed off at the intersection of Block Avenue.

During the road closure, traffic will be re-routed, but all detours will be clearly marked. Dickson Street will be reopened Thursday morning. A second closing might be necessary Thursday night, say city officials.

The complete overhaul, which includes wider sidewalks, new lamps, street trees, angled forward and back-in parking will first start with the replacement of a 6-inch water line that was installed in the 1890s. A 12-inch PVC line will be installed in its place.

For full details, read the full story at AccessFayetteville.org.

I like this! I like the 1-way street, the newer style parking, the updated greenspace & sidewalks! I like this! And yes, I will still visit downtown just as often as I did before the work. This just makes it that much better especially when I jog through that area (and that is often).
