Monday To-do: April 12

We’re pretty sure we still smell like bacon grease. We were summoned to help with some last-minute bacon stapling onto Nick Hamon’s Bacon Day 2010 creation: Bacon AT-AT.

Forty pounds of bacon, a couple of two-by-fours and a greasy pickup truck later, the Bacon AT-AT was released into the wild of Bacon Day at Agri Park Saturday afternoon. Fortunately, Nick got some photos of the thing before somebody’s dog ate half the bacon on the front left leg.

Some of the other Bacon Day contributions included bacon tofu, bacon strawberries, bacon doughnuts and bacon fudge. Mmm.

Who wants to rock tonight?

Smoke & Barrel is offering up plenty of rock with Austin’s The Blind Pets. Locals The European Sons open the show. Warning: The video embedded below features tattoos and panties. Just thought you should know in case your boss is against those kinds of things.

In other rock news, Saliva will be rocking George’s along with Since October and Anchored. Locals Open Addiction open up.

There’s more but all that bacon talk got me hungry. I’m going to lunch.

List:

Monday, April 12, 2010
Powerhouse: Boom Kinetic Trio
JJ’s Grill n Chill: Ton Nollen
Pesto Cafe: Darren Ray
The Perk: Acoustic Jam
Walton Arts Center: Percussion Ensemble Concert
George’s: Saliva / Since October / Anchored / Open Addiction
Smoke & Barrel Tavern: Blind Pets / The European Sons

Who are these people that cause Saliva to get booked at George’s…again? That’s just embarrassing. I don’t blame the venue (much), I blame the fans(?). Yes, I totally discriminate based on music taste. That’s my form of racism.

    P.S. Saliva sucks!

    So does Primus!

I’m still feeling ripped off from seeing Saliva when they played at Dave’s.

FREE SHOW at the Blue House on Rollston, with HELLO SHARK (myspace/hellosharkvermont) and ATTIC ABASEMENT (a very clever name). Low-key and folky guitar pop tunes with that lo-fi irreverence to fit your Monday mood.

@reed – There’s a free show at my house tonight and I’m on the road? Aaargh.
