If you’ve been on the square at all in the past month and a half, you’ve likely certainly seen the giant elephant sitting in front of the Fayetteville Town Center.
The 1.3 ton sculpture made from recycled tires has been visiting from South Africa, touring North America to raise awareness of environmental issues and the impact that they have on all species, large and small. If you’ve somehow managed to avoid the square completely since April 1, tonight’s your last chance to have a look at Nomkhubulwane as she’ll be gone tomorrow.
In honor of her visit, there’s a going away party set for tonight in front of the Town Center from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and from what we hear, there’ll be live music, cake and some kind of giant going away card to sign.
Afterwards, there’s a handful of live music options including the McCleod/Burson Quartet at Scarpino’s, Jason Strode at Powerhouse, and Jeff Fox at JJ’s.
Or you could chillax and try to win the chess tournament at Smoke & Barrel.
