Wilson Park pool opens Friday, June 11

It’s summertime, amigos, and that means it’s also time to open up Fayetteville’s favorite (and only) public pool.

Wilson Park Pool will open for the summer on Friday, June 11 with a “Dive into Summer” celebration. It starts at 2:30 p.m., and the opening day party will be free and open to the public.

It is also likely to be packed.

The Parks and Recreation Department is hoping to get Fayetteville into the Guinness Book of World Records for the world’s largest swimming lesson in a single venue. Brad Dutton told us that the lesson will begin at 6 p.m. and that in order to get into the record books, it will take about 250 people in the pool simultaneously participating a swim lesson for at least 30 minutes.

The summer Dive-in Movies series also kicks off on Friday, with “Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs” starting around dark.
