You guys remember Will Phillips, right?
He’s the 10-year-old from West Fork who made local and then national headlines after refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance until there truly is “liberty and justice for all,” particularly for gay people, who are not allowed to marry.
He’s the same local kid that John Stewart mentioned on The Daily Show back in November, and enlisted pro-wrestler Mick Foley to protect? Yeah, you guys remember.
Over the weekend, the folks at NWA Pride announced that the same 10-year-old activist will serve as the parade’s youngest ever grand marshal at their annual pride parade scheduled for Saturday on Dickson St.
“Will Phillips may be just over the age of 10 years old, but has done more in the support of the GLBT Community than many people 4 times his age,” reads the announcement from NWA Pride.
Will received a unanimous vote from parade organizers for grand marshal.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. in the parking lot behind Hugo’s, and will make its way down Meadow St., to East Ave, to Dickson St, and down West Avenue before ending in the Walton Arts Center parking lot.

Anybody know if they make a rainbow Hog Hat?
AFA has their closeted panties in a twist about it too!

Of course you can edit the letter to say whatever you’d like in support of the parade too. Nothing better than beating bigots with their own tools.
Here’s my letter!
Dear Mayor Jordan and Fayetteville City Council:
I am shocked pleased to learn that the city of Fayetteville is issuing a proclamation in support of the homosexual activist group, Northwest Arkansas Pride.
It’s offensive enough invigorating to sensibilities that they are going to parade their deviant valid lifestyle on the streets of the city.
It’s even more abhorrent groovy that the city is supporting it, knowing very well that the organizers of this event are exploiting enlightening children and ignorant adults to push with their radical sexualizing important educational event.
I implore you to withdraw shout the proclamation from the rooftops and emphasize this event’s focus on issues that promote a healthy and safe lifestyle, rather than one that is the risky and dangerous hysteria being fomented by AFA and other benighted organizations.
Oh, dang– the software removed my strikethroughs and underlines. I hope you get the gist.
HAHAHA DAvid, that just about killed me.
Tune in next time, when I point out that children are more likely to be molested in a church than at a gay pride rally.
