Weeat Organic Pub & Cafe coming to the square

There’s another new restaurant coming to town in August.

Locals Russ Davis and Michael Andrews are working to open a new organic restaurant, Weeat (pronounced wheat), in the EJ Ball Building on the Fayetteville square.

Last we heard, the space was going to be a jazz club called “The Nines,” but it appears that club will be located elsewhere.

Weeat will specialize in toasted bagel sandwiches, grilled wraps, soups, salads and a few other entrees for lunch and dinner. The selections will be primarily organic, built from locally grown produce and locally baked breads. Weeat will also showcase a small selection of wheat beers.

Davis said that he believes there is a demand for local, organic, and healthy lunch options in the area.

“There’s really nothing like it in town right now,” said Davis. All of our friends have been asking for something like this. Also, we feel like the square is an up-and-coming area and we decided now was as good a time as any.”

Andrews and Davis also plan to transform the space into a dance club called “Lush” on Friday and Saturday nights after 9 p.m., hosting DJ’s from all over the area.

Davis said he hopes to open the new restaurant in mid-to-late August.
