UA graduate Daniel Faires on season 5 of HGTV’s Design Star

The fifth season of Design Star is already in full swing, but thanks to the Arkansas Traveler, we now know that there’s a UA graduate on the show.

26-year-old Daniel Faires, an independent contractor originally from Springdale (and a UA biology grad), is working his way through the show, which pits contestants against each other for a chance at their own design program. Faires’ show portfolio has so far been ranked as one of the top entries in each of the first three episodes.

Daniel is the third (that we know of) Arkansan on a major television reality show this summer. Two other Natural Staters are on season 12 of CBS’ Big Brother.

Dan actually appeared twice via skype on Fox 24 News Edge at 9:00 p.m. prior to the Arkansas Traveler article. The attached link is the video from the first time Dan was on the show. I know he has alot of fans in NW Arkansas pulling for him as he continues his quest to become the next “Design Star.”

@Brad – Unfortunately, Dan was eliminated last from the show night.

I never heard of Dan until this show, and I don’t think he was on track to win it, but I will just say it: Last night’s elimination seemed like affirmative action at its worst.

Dan’s not only a Springdale guy, but he also supports Fayetteville. His watch party was at Tim’s on the square.

He stopped by the studio talk about why he still needs local support, even though he was eliminated from the show.

He can still get an online “show”! Vote for him on hgtv.com. :)
