Fayetteville residents to show support for Dr. William Harrison Friday

Fayetteville obstetrician, gynecologist and legal abortion advocate Dr. William “Bill” Harrison, 74, announced earlier this week that he was closing the Fayetteville Women’s Clinic today after practicing in Fayetteville for more than 30 years.

Harrison was diagnosed with leukemia in May, and health reasons led to his decision to close the clinic.

His office has been the lone clinic in Northwest Arkansas that performs surgical abortions, and as a result, Harrison has been the target of anti-abortion protests for years.

Today (Friday, July 30), some residents have organized a gathering outside the clinic at 4 p.m. to show support for the long time Fayetteville doctor.

More information about the gathering in front of the clinic, located at 1011 N. College, is available on Facebook.
