Tuesday To-Do: Aug. 17

Wanna spend the rest of the morning arguing with your co-workers about sports? Google “arkansas hat fired” and you’re set. Too lazy? OK, fine. Here’s a rundown:

Local radio host wears a Florida Gators hat to an Arkansas football press conference Saturday. Coach Petrino seems a little ticked. Fans get super ticked. Fans find negative comments about the Hogs on local radio host’s Facebook page. Fans freak out. Radio station fires local radio host. America freaks out.

We’d suggest ArkansasSports360 for this one if you’re interested. Everybody else’s story is a re-written Associated Press mess.

Just as the above story will get your blood running if you’re not a sports fan, there’s a couple of liberal events this evening that should do the same if you fancy yourself a conservative.

The Fayetteville chapter of Drinking Liberally enjoys its fourth anniversary this month and is bringing in Justin Krebs, co-founder of the Living Liberally network, to help celebrate and to talk about his new book, 538 Ways to Live, Work, and Play Like a Liberal.

Krebs will be at Nightbord Books this evening at 5 p.m. Afterwards, the party moves down the street to 21st Amendment.

Before that, though, there are a couple of cooking demonstrations to consider attending today. The first is a Laotian cuisine demo on the Square during the Farmers’ Market. Mai Moua will be demonstrating some traditional Hmong cooking techniques at 10 a.m. followed by Serena Caffrey, a youth cooking advocate, who will demonstrate a local food pasta dish at 11 a.m.

The cooking party continues at Ozark Natural Foods this evening where Greenhouse Grille Chef Jerrmy Gawthrop will be showing folks how to prepare local, organic food. Stop by in front of the deli, get to know Jerrmy and sample some tasty treats.

What? You wanted live music options? Get real. It’s Tuesday.
