40th annual Ice Cream Social set for Saturday, Aug. 21

The Washington County Historical Society is hosting its 40th annual Ice Cream Social from 4-7:30 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 21 at the Headquarters House on Dickson Street.

What does that mean, you might ask?

Three-and-a-half hours of live music, ice cream and homemade cake eating, an opportunity to check out an antique car show, and a chance to tour the historic Headquarters House for $5 ($2.50 for kids 6-12), that’s what.

The Headquarters House, also called the Tebbetts House (sound familiar?) was used at various times as the headquarters for both Union and Confederate forces during the Civil War. Check out the entry on fayettevillehistory.com for more.

The Ice Cream Social is a fundraiser for the Historical Society’s educational programs for children and adults. For advance tickets, call 479-521-2970.
