No ESPN College GameDay for Arkansas-Alabama matchup

There will be no GameDay in Fayetteville this week.

Before the season started, most Arkansas fans thought that if the Hogs were able to get past Georgia this past weekend, we’d be a lock for a visit from ESPN’s College GameDay for Saturday’s Alabama game.

Arkansas took care of business on the road versus the Bulldogs, beating Georgia 31-24 on a last minute touchdown pass from Ryan Mallett to Greg Childs, moving Arkansas to #10 in the AP Top 25 poll heading into Saturday’s matchup against the #1 Crimson Tide.

GameDay typically travels to the biggest college football game in the country, and a top-ten matchup pitting the defending national champions against an Arkansas team steadily rising in the rankings with a Heisman trophy candidate quarterback would certainly qualify.

As Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast, my friend.”

Instead, the popular Saturday morning college football preview show announced that they will be headed to Boise for a matchup between #3 Boise State and #25 Oregon State this week.

ESPN’s College GameDay has only been to Fayetteville once, for the November 2006 game against Tennessee. Saturday will mark their first ever trip to Boise.
