Lake Sequoyah boat docks to be removed, city seeks input from boat owners

If you or someone you know docks a boat at Lake Sequoyah, keep reading.

The city’s Parks and Recreation department announced today that the existing boat docks at Lake Sequoyah have reached the end of their life span and will be removed sometime in 2011. All boats currently docked there will need to be removed by Dec. 23, 2010.

The department is trying to determine if there is enough demand for docks to justify rebuilding them and is seeking input from individuals or entities who would be willing to commit to a three-year rental agreement of a boat slip.

If new boat docks are built, boat slip rental fees will increase from $100 per year to $250 per year for Fayetteville residents and $325 per year for non-Fayetteville residents.

Anyone interested should contact the Parks and Recreation department at 444-3471 by Oct. 15, 2010.
