Deadline for fall A&P funding requests is Friday, Oct. 1

Anyone looking to receive funding from the Fayetteville Advertising & Promotion Commission for an event in the first half of 2011 had better act quick.

The deadline for fall funding is Friday, Oct. 1, 2010.

Commission director Marilyn Heifner said as of Thursday, her office had received about a dozen applications.

Twice each year, the commission reviews applications for amounts larger than $2,000 and those applicants who are approved, receive “seed money” for their event. The money comes from revenue generated by the two percent Hotel-Motel-Restaurant (HMR) tax.

Last November, the commission awarded over $180,000, and this year’s first round gave $149,292 to 13 applicants including $4,000 to the organizers of last month’s Harvest Food Fest and $18,000 to next month’s Fayetteville Half-Marathon.
