Block Avenue paving and milling begins Monday

  • by Todd Gill, Flyer Staff
    on October 4, 2010 at 12:01 am

Construction on Block Avenue will resume Monday. Work on the enhancement project, which is set to be complete by the end of the month, was put on hold last week because of Bikes Blues & BBQ.

The city’s Transportation Division will begin asphalt milling on the section of the road between Spring Street and Center Street starting at 4 a.m. Work should be complete by 4 p.m.

Workers will start by milling the west side and then work their way to the east side of the street. On Tuesday, paving will begin on the west side, followed by the east side on Wednesday.

Oil will be sprayed approximately 30 minutes before the placement of the asphalt overlay. Note that rain could delay or extend the estimated work time.

The city asks that individuals not park in designated work areas as this may interfere with the construction work and timing of the project. Residents will be given access as needed.

Note that small piles of debris or asphalt may be left at the edge of the street, however, the city said these will be removed within a day or two.

For questions or for more information, call 575-8228 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
