University of Arkansas Hospitality Club to Donate 1000 lbs of pet food

FAYETTEVILLE, AR, October 27, 2010 – The University of Arkansas Hospitality Club will be donating 1000 lbs of pet food to the Ranger’s Pantry Pet Food Bank. The presentation will be made on Friday, October 29, at 2:45 pm on the Fayetteville Square to kick off Ranger’s Birthday Celebration.

Ranger is celebrating his birthday on the Square from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. as part of Trick or Treat on the Square. Join the celebration! Treats will be served. Bring a gift for Ranger in the form of a donation to Ranger’s Pantry Pet Food Bank. Any size or brand of dog or cat food is accepted, as well as cash donations. Donors will be entered in a drawing for a gift basket.

Ranger’s Pantry supplies pet food to pet owners in Fayetteville who are experiencing temporary financial hardship. This allows pets to remain with their families instead of being surrendered to area shelters. Ranger’s Pantry is the first pet food bank of its kind in Northwest Arkansas. It opened its doors in May of 2010 and has assisted nearly 100 Fayetteville families since that time, distributing over 4300 lbs of dog food and over 1400 lbs of cat food.

Donations may also be dropped off at any Fayetteville Fire Station or at the Community Services Division at 125 W Mountain. Any size or brand of dog/puppy or cat/kitten food will be accepted. Cash donations are also welcome and are used for the purchase of pet food for the pantry. For more information, please call (479) 575-8260.
