Fayetteville Animal Shelter sets record for adoptions in 2010

The Fayetteville Animal Shelter announced that 2010 was a record-breaking year for pet adoptions in Fayetteville.

The numbers won’t be official until Monday, but shelter officials estimated that 2,084 animals were adopted in 2010, up from 1,717 in 2009.

The shelter has been touting a big announcement on their Facebook page this week, and that announcement came at about 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

That’s a lot of happy dogs and cats. Good job, Fayetteville.

From the shelter’s Facebook page:

The previous record was blown out of the water! We won’t have official numbers until Monday, but I am estimating the number at 2,084 animals! To give some perspective last year’s total was 1,717 so that an extra animal saved for every single day of 2010! Congrats to all the new pet parents, our volunteers, and our staff! What an awesome year it has been.
