Fayetteville Roots Festival Winter Preview set for Jan. 6

We have three pieces of good news for you.

The first good news is that the first ever Fayetteville Roots Festival back in August was a huge success.

The second piece of good news is that the second annual Fayetteville Roots Festival is already in the works for August 2011.

The last piece of good news is that the folks behind the Fayetteville Roots Festival are hosting a Roots Festival Winter Preview on Thursday, Jan. 6 at Greenhouse Grille in Fayetteville.

How do you like that kind of apples?

Fayetteville bands 3 Penny Acre and The Hobknobbers will be joined by Harrisonburg, VA’s The Steel Wheels for the show. Admission is free, but there’s a $10 suggested donation for the bands.

Here’s what John Walker of Americana Roots had to say about The Steel Wheels:

If one must compare The Steel Wheels to another act in order to get an idea of their music imagine a blend of the passion of the Avett Brothers, the instrumentals of Old Crow Medicine Show and then sprinkle in the backwoods feel of The Legendary Shack Shakers. In truth attempting to compare them with anyone is an injustice, since after one listen you can hear that they stand very well on their own perch.

Sounds awesome. Bring your dancing pants.
