Bikes, Babes & Bling finds new home at Washington County Fairgrounds

Bikes, Babes & Bling will be back for a second year in Fayetteville, but the rally will have a new home in 2011.

Joe Giles, event director for sister-rally Bikes, Blues & BBQ, told us this week that the fledgling event will be held at the Washington County Fairgrounds on June 10-11 this year.

Bikes, Babes & Bling debuted on Dickson Street in July of 2010 as a non-profit event with an aim to attract female motorcycle enthusiasts to town, and to raise money for local women’s charities.

Giles said that organizers had already decided to hold the rally over the June weekend this year, and a scheduling conflict with the Walton Arts Center parking lot led to the decision to change venues.

He was excited about the new digs.

“It a huge place, and it’s all fenced in, so I’ve basically got a 77-acre beer garden to work with,” Giles said. “It’s going to be fantastic.”

Giles also said that the event has scaled back from a three-day festival to just two days this year, and that it will likely stay that way until it has had more time to grow.

“This festival has so much potential,” he said. “We’ll go to two days this year, and if folks start showing up earlier in years to come, we’ll make sure to serve them a beer.”
