He has been a frequent contributor to PRI/Chicago Public Radio’s nationally syndicated show This American Life, and has published essays in The New Yorker, Esquire, and others.

Sedaris’ show at the Walton Arts Center will feature a 60-minute reading his work, followed by a 20-minute question and answer session.

Oh, and we’ve got two pairs of tickets to give away. Win ‘em.

Hands down, “Six to Eight Black Men” (http://www.esquire.com/features/ESQ1202-DEC_SEDARIS).

Regarding the Christmas story in Holland…

‘A Dutch parent has a decidedly hairier story to relate, telling his children, “Listen, you might want to pack a few of your things together before you go to bed. The former bishop from Turkey will be coming along with six to eight black men. They might put some candy in your shoes, they might stuff you in a sack and take you to Spain, or they might just pretend to kick you. We don’t know for sure, but we want you to be prepared.”‘

    “Old Faithful”
    http://www.newyorker.com/archive/2004/11/29/041129fa_fact1

Actually, the first time I heard it was at the Walton Arts Center. A few audience members left – I guess finding it too risqué. But it’s just a story of relationships, love, fidelity, growing old, and what disgusting thing you’ll do for your partner just to ease their pain.
