Storm debris and flash flooding left several roads and bridges impassable Monday evening, but only one street remained closed Tuesday morning in Fayetteville.

According to city officials, road crews worked through the night to open all roads closed Monday evening with the exception of W. Persimmon Street between N. Broyles Road and N. 54th Avenue which is still being repaired.

“More rain is anticipated for Wednesday,” said Communication Director Lindsley Smith, “so the city is continuing to prepare for already-saturated areas, high streams and waterways.”

From the release:

During these times of high water volumes, please continue to use extreme caution when traveling. If you approach a road with running or standing water, avoid driving through it.

For weather-related emergencies, contact City of Fayetteville Dispatch at 587-3555, extension 1. As always, in an immediate emergency, call 911.
