Giveaway: Primus at the Arkansas Music Pavilion

Wanna win tickets to see Primus at the Arkansas Music Pavilion? Go for it.

This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to the winners, Morgan Boehm and Samuel Ridge.

Remember when we told you guys that Primus was coming to town for a show at the Arkansas Music Pavilion?

That wasn’t a dream.

The band, featuring bass playing genius Les Claypool, Larry “Ler” LaLonde, and new (original) drummer Jay Lane, will be at the AMP on May 27 along with The Dead Kenny G’s.

The show is part of their current US tour, before heading to Europe for a string of dates this summer. According to a statement released by Claypool back in February, the band is also very close to releasing their first record since their 1999 album, Antipop.

From Claypool’s statement:

The Primus record is nearly done. For those of you that enjoyed the new song, “Last Salmon Man”, that we played New Year’s, you’ll love the record because every song basically sounds exactly the same as that one. In fact, we just kept recording the same song over and over and I would just change a few of the lyrics around. I hear that’s the way Pink Floyd used to do it and those guys are no slouches.

(My manager got bent out of shape for me writing that last bit about the record and he wanted me to change it so, here is what I’m changing it to…)

The Primus record is nearly done. Every song is pretty much a variation of “Don’t Fear the Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult. Everyone should buy two copies.

Dude’s a bad butt.

We’ve got two pairs of tickets to give away to the show. Win!
