Washington County Detention Center inmate dies

Timothy Wells, a 30-year-old inmate at the Washington County Detention Center, died Friday morning after suffering an apparent seizure.

Washington County Sheriff Tim Helder said deputies were notified that an inmate was having a seizure at 7:41 a.m.. After responding, they found Wells in his bunk, not breathing.

Deputies initiated CPR and used an automatic external defibrillator to try and revive Wells while waiting for paramedics and an ambulance to arrive. After being transported to Washington Regional Medical Center, Wells was pronounced dead.

No foul play is suspected, according to a news release. Wells’ body will be taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab by Washington County Coroner Roger Morris to determine the cause of death.

Wells turned himself in at the Washington County Detention Center on Wednesday, June 22, on an Arkansas Department of Community Correction 24-month commitment on a charge of theft of property.
