It is unfortunate that those who bring us our news only repeats the public relations releases from our local law enforcement community. How about some digging for us who want to know a bit more – the name of the victim and perhaps even the events that led up to this happening at a minimum. I am sure this was not just a random incident since the so called victims could identify the shooter and driver by name.
I left this neighborhood because of the residents at 2332 south clover. I lived at 2317. The police protect them. Their dogs ran around the neighborhood while all the neighbors complained to the police who came out but ultimately did nothing. I had a 4 and 6 year old in my home and simply had to leave to give them a safe place to play. This neighborhood has been dangerous to a regular person for years. I blame the Fayetteville PD for the situation in the neighborhood, they have ignored a meth operation on Lorena and several other noxious individuals in the neighborhood choosing instead to put pressure on those who are complaining. Once again – the local PD has allowed the situation in that neighborhood to be what it is for the last few years, the proper complaints have been made, they wish to protect their favorites instead.
KNWA has a bit more on this.
Innaresting stuff, Jeff… thanks for posting.
I lived in that neighborhood for seven years, moving out 19 months ago. It was quiet and safe, and there was no more criminal activity there than any other similar neighborhood in Fayetteville. The police have no interest in “protecting” anyone, they can only go so far without violating one’s constitutional rights. The same rights that keep innocent people out of jail are, unfortunately in some cases, the same rights that don’t allow police to arbitrarily decide to harass someone. If the greatest crime being committed is letting a couple dogs run free in the neighborhood(which is really an animal control issue), I say that is a pretty safe neighborhood. Being obnoxious is not a crime either. People who complain constantly about everything are obnoxious to me, but I’m tolerant enough to know we are all different, I don’t report them to the police. So continue to complain about the article, your old neighborhood, your old neighbors, and the FPD. Generally if you have a problem with everyone else you come in contact with, you might be the problem.
Never trust a man who smiles in his mugshot.
Shocking to me to read that these fine upstanding citizens hang out at the Dickson Theater.
