George’s to host benefit for Neill Williamson July 31

Chances are good that if you live in Fayetteville, and if you’ve ever ventured down to Dickson Street, Neill Williamson has checked your ID at least once.

If not, he’s surely slapped an armband on you at some point or other.

The long-time doorman who has worked at George’s and Jose’s for years, suffers from cerebral palsy and was recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, and the community is coming together to help out (Fayetteville rules).

There is a big fundraiser to help cover Neill’s medical and living expenses starting at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 31 at George’s, featuring the Red Barn Ramblers.

The band is made up of an all-star lineup, including Earl Cate, JT Huff, Jerry Moss, Neal Pendergraft, Dave Ervin, Paul Hughes, John Ware, CJ Nicolai, Don Johnson, Marvin Short, Jerry Bone, Frank Evarts, and Bill White.

Cover is a $5 donation, and all of the proceeds will go to Neill.
