3rd Annual Fayetteville Reunion set for July 29-30

If you live in Fayetteville, have lived in Fayetteville, know someone who lives in Fayetteville, or just enjoy Fayetteville, you’re invited to a party this weekend.

The 3rd Annual Fayetteville Reunion is happening on July 29-30 at a handful of places around town.

The tradition started a few years ago with friends Laura McKinnon Harrison, Cindy Smith McAnarny, Mary Sugg Bassett, Kim and Janie Agee, and Free McClain longing for warmer days ahead on Facebook.

“It all came about back in February ’09, when we were ruminating on a Facebook thread about what we were planning for the warm weather season,” said organizer Kim Agee. “So we made a Facebook group and had a party at the end of July.”

The first reunion drew about 200 people. Organizers say about 1,000 people from around the country attended last year’s four events.

The Fayetteville Reunion is free to attend, outside of the cost of cover charges and drinks at the various activities scheduled. It is also open to anyone with a Fayetteville connection.

“It is mainly, first, last, and always, just for fun,” Agee told us last year. “Janie and I set out to do this with the thought that we’d have fun, keep the stress down, and get to see a bunch of old and new friends. So far we’ve succeeded.”
