Dancing. Drinking. Watching a band. All of these things are pretty common occurrences at our local watering holes, but a new business opening this fall in Fayetteville plans to add a new activity to that list. Painting.
The new place is called Painting With A Twist, and the concept seems simple enough; get some friends together, and learn to paint a picture while you drink some beer or wine.
Locals Michael and Susan Jean have purchased a franchise from the Louisiana-based business, and plan to open soon at 1404 N College Ave in Evelyn Hills shopping center, in the space formerly occupied by The Green Door.
“My wife went to one of the places in Louisiana, and just fell in love with it,” Michael told us. “It’s really been a dream of hers to open a place like that up here and it’s about to happen.”
Each month, the business will post a list of paintings that they’ll be teaching each month, and folks can reserve space in classes depending on what they’d like to paint.
Classes will be taught by visiting artists as well as local painters, art supplies will be provided, and the bar will be open for refreshments.
“That’s the twist part, the fact that you can get a wine or beer with your class,” Michael told us.
Michael’s wife Susan will run the business with the help of their daughters Katie and Heather.
Those who’ve never painted or who maybe haven’t had a lot of desirable results from their artistic endeavors shouldn’t be discouraged according to Heather.
“You don’t have to be an artist at all,” she said. “The way they teach the classes, they really make it to where anyone can do it.”
Michael told us that they are currently working on selecting a contractor for the build-out, and are shooting for an Oct. 20 opening date.

Adult art classes, you say? Don’t mind if I do!
what would they be charging for the classes ……. sounds like a great time …..
It’s $35 for a two hour class and $45 for a three hour class. That includes everything you need to complete your own masterpiece, paint, canvas, and brushes. Check out our youtube video.
I’m excited!! I don’t drink, but I would if I could paint while I was doing it!! Sounds fun!
This sounds awesome.
My inner Bob Ross yearns to be freed.
Is it strictly for people over 21?
Evening classes will be for ages 15 and up. Sunday will be family day and classes are open to all ages though children under 8 might find the painting too difficult.
I’m soooo glad it’s coming up there! We have one here in Arlington, TX and have been many times! NWArkansas will LOVE it! You don’t have to drink, just come and enjoy! Grab a few friends, do a couples night with other couples, birthday parties, etc! it’s a blast and everyone paints well. Can’t wait to do it with friends when I come up to visit!!
