Cats all over Northwest Arkansas are furry. Some of them are talkative. Plenty of them will play with a feather, and there’s even one in Springdale that will chase the light from a laser pointer. Not bad.

The unquestioned center of the cat art scene in Northwest Arkansas, however, resides in Fayetteville, and several of the most popular cat artists in town will debut some of their work during the PAWcasso Fundraiser at First Thursday on the square this week.

20 paintings, created by local cats and kittens from the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, will debut at a reception on Thursday, Sept. 1 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Jammin’ Java. After that, the paintings will remain on display for the remainder of September.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, and several of the artists (cats) will be available for adoption during the reception.
