During Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, Ward 3 Alderman Bobby Ferrell announced the selections for several open board and committee positions, as recommended by the City Council Nominating Committee.

The announcement also included Mayor Jordan’s nomination for an open seat on the Historic District Commission.

Council members approved the nominations unanimously and later encouraged citizens to continue applying for the open positions.

“We had a large number of qualified applicants,” said Ward 2 Alderman Mark Kinion. “The quality of the applications was incredibly impressive, so if someone did apply and didn’t get on a committee, we certainly want to encourage them to apply again.”

Below is the full list of new board and committee members:

Animal Services Advisory Board
Mary Herrington – One unexpired term ending 6/30/14

Board of Adjustments and Appeals
No applications were received

Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals
David Holland – One unexpired term ending 3/31/15
Anthony Clark – One unexpired term ending 3/31/15

Environmental Action Committee
Meredith Lewis – One citizen-at-large term ending 12/31/12
