Washington County and Benton County residents, business, non-profits and schools are invited to dispose of their old electronics for free during an e-waste recycling event from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. October 11 and 12 at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale.

“This is something that doesn’t happen very often,” said Fayetteville utilities director David Jurgens. “This is the only way to get rid of electronic waste free of charge.”

The last free e-waste recycling event was held April 15, 2010, also at Arvest Ballpark.

Jurgens said the event is funded by an ADEQ grant and is a partnership between several entities including the City of Fayetteville.

The following types of items will be accepted: Computers, printers, copiers, phones, stereos, televisions, fax machines, electronic cable, paper shredders, microwaves, DVD and VCR players, video game consoles, satellite receivers, and handheld devices.
