University of Arkansas elevator prank set to air on TruTV

A University of Arkansas April Fool’s prank that has gathered over 16,000 views on YouTube is about to get a little more famous.

Portions of the video are set to be shown on the latest edition of TruTV’s Top 20 Most Shocking series tonight (Oct. 13) at 9 p.m.

The joke was the brainchild of Charlie Alison, University Relations managing editor. Alison altered the lobby and reception area of his department, located on the 8th floor of Hotz Hall, to resemble the 9th floor where Housing is located.

Alison’s plan: Set up a camera and record co-workers as they exit the elevator thinking they’re on the wrong floor. Over and over and over again.

Clocking in at over 9 minutes, the original YouTube video is pretty long, but it’s a testament to how many of Alison’s co-workers were repeatedly fooled.

Check it out for yourself (embedded below) or watch some highlights on TV tonight during the “Practical Jokers Gone Wild 6” segment at 9 p.m. on TruTV. (Cox channel 50).
