Fayetteville street crews will begin building a bus pull-off area along the north side of Center Street between West Avenue and School Avenue this week.

The project will consist of constructing an area for Ozark Regional Transit and Razorback Transit buses to stop outside of traffic flow as well as sidewalk improvements and a bus shelter.

The project will require closing the westbound lane of Center Street between West Avenue and School Avenue each day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Nov. 30. Detour routes will be marked.

A news release issued Friday stated that work would start at 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, but as of about 9 a.m. construction had not yet begun.

From the release:

These improvements are made possible by Federal Transit funds from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department to implement New Freedom projects. New Freedom funds are not part of the federal stimulus program.

For additional information about the project, email Keith Shreve at [email protected] or call 575-8228 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
