Weekend Flyer: Nov. 24-27

Fossils of Ancient Robots

You know what’s awesome about holiday weekends? Lots of former-Fayettevillians will be in town visiting family, and you’re bound to see a ton of people you haven’t seen in forever out and about.

Some of them are awesome, like that dude that used to bartend at JR’s, or that awesome girl that was in your creative writing workshop.

Some of them are awkward, like that person you were going to hook up with, but they puked in your car on the way home, so nothing ended up happening (phew).

Some of them suck, like that guy, who sucks (just avoid him).

All in all, though, it’s a good weekend to head out with your cousin, your uncle, and your granddad and get a beer or two and see who you run into. Happy Thankgsiving weekend, everyone.

Thursday

It’s Thanksgiving, and that means that if you celebrate the holiday in the traditional sense, you’ll be eating a whole lot of turkey, dressing, tacos, and other foods.

There isn’t anything on the calendar, but that doesn’t meant that some savvy bar owner won’t open up their establishment later on in the evening for those of you who get stir crazy. If you guys know of any such place, feel free to share below.

Friday

The Razorbacks are taking on the LSU Tigers on Friday, and there’s more than just the Golden Boot on the line this year. Some people think a win could be the Hogs’ ticket to the National Championship. It’s gonna be crazy. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m., and the game will be televised on CBS.

George’s Majestic Lounge has two happy hour shows with Earl & Them and Eoff Brothers. That party starts at 6 p.m.

Smoke & Barrel Tavern has Catfish Jackson, and Greenhouse Grille has Walter Savage, and The Odds are at Rogue.

Saturday

There’s a basketball game at Bud Walton Arena Saturday, as the Hogs take on Grambling State at 7 p.m.

Eureka Springs band Fossils of Ancient Robots are back in town Saturday night for a show at Smoke & Barrel Tavern. Hint: they rule.

Sample Platters, The Commoners, and T-Jay & Will Brand will be at George’s Majestic Lounge on Saturday playing some certified, organic hip hop.

Sunday

There’s a silent auction benefiting Spay Arkansas happening from 1-4 p.m. Arsaga’s on Crossover. There will be music by Emily Kaitz and Susan Shore, gifts for sale, and the proceeds benefit the low-cost spay & neuter clinic.

Canadian alternative rock band Art of Dying is at George’s Saturday night, and there’s a Walking Dead watch party at Smoke & Barrel.
