City workers prepare to replace a dead tree on North College Avenue near the intersection of Lafayette Street Wednesday morning.

A crew with the city of Fayetteville’s Parks and Recreation Division began replacing dead and damaged trees along College Avenue between Dickson and Maple streets Wednesday morning.

The work will require closure of the outside lanes of College Avenue from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The inside lanes will remain open. All lanes will reopen to regular traffic after work hours.

Officials initially expected the work to begin Tuesday and end Wednesday, however, the project was delayed a bit and could last through Thursday.
