News Briefs

The Fordyce Country Club pool house and surrounding areas were heavily damaged by a tornado that hit Sunday evening.

Severe weather hit the state Sunday night including an EF2 tornado which pummeled the Fordyce area with winds up to 135 mph. No fatalities were reported, but damage was heavy in several places including the Fordyce Country Club.

The Block Street Block Party will return for a second year on May 20. Last year’s event was one of the most successful first-year festivals to happen in Fayetteville since…we don’t know when.

A new overlook opened at Crystal Bridges recently. It provides a multi-level stone seating area on the west side of the ravine that surrounds the museum, just north of the site of the old observation deck.

How many local publications out there have sponsors that will take you on a romantic helicopter ride over the city of Fayetteville for Valentine’s Day? Or will make you cookies with basically whatever words you want on them? Flyer sponsors will.

Same here. I also consumed gallons and gallons of Gatorade at that country club. My grandfather provided unlimited amounts while I rode around with him in his golf cart.
