Fred Gulley says he plans to play for Razorback basketball team

Update: Head coach Mike Anderson all but confirmed Gulley as the newest member of the Razorbacks. When pressed by the media during a news conference Thursday afternoon, Anderson said he anticipated Gulley would soon begin practicing with the team.

Fayetteville’s own Fred Gulley could become a member of the Arkansas men’s basketball team in 2013.

Gulley, who recently transferred from Oklahoma State, told the Associated Press on Monday that he’d spoken with head coach Mike Anderson and is now waiting for approval from the NCAA and university before joining the team.

If cleared, Gulley would be eligible to play next January and would have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

As a high school senior, the 6-foot-2 guard scored 1,222 career points and played alongside Razorback walk-on Kikko Haydar at FHS to help lead the Bulldogs to a 30-0 season and a state championship.
