Fire crews destroyed the former Mary Maestri’s restaurant in a controlled burn training exercise Saturday morning.

The former Mary Maestri’s restaurant at 992 E. Henri De Tonti Blvd., in Tontitown was burned to the ground this weekend to clear the way for a planned shopping center.

Fayetteville police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place at 2769 Ida Lindsey Dr. inside The Greens at Lakeside Village apartment complex early Sunday morning.

Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan and Fort Smith Mayor Sandy Sanders will soon announce a ‘unified proposal’ that aims to strengthen the economies of the two cities and help businesses thrive.

Jammin’ Java owner Brandon Karn last week announced plans for a third Fayetteville location set to open later this month in the AR Research and Technology Park, 534 W. Resarch Center Blvd.

The Arkansas men’s basketball team continued its road game losing streak after a 71-65 loss to LSU Saturday in Baton Rouge. The Hogs, who are now 0-7 away from Bud Walton Arena, face the Georgia Bulldogs Wednesday night in Athens, Ga.

Railroad Earth

Folk/jam band Railroad Earth is back in town tonight. The New Jersey group plays George’s Majestic Lounge at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at the door or through George’s ticketing website.

Also tonight, political humorist and singer/songwriter Roy Zimmerman will perform at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Fayetteville. Tickets are available at the door with a suggested donation of $18.
