School officials are expecting a large crowd for the final basketball games inside the old Fayetteville High School gymnasium Friday night.

As a result, district information officer Alan Wilbourn is suggesting fans arrive early.

The varsity and junior varsity basketball teams each face the Springdale Bulldogs and games begin at 4 p.m.

Instead of using the entrances near the FHS gym lobby, Wilbourn said the main school entrance will be used Friday night to help with potential crowd congestion.

Overflow seating will be available in the auxiliary gym, and the girls and boys varsity games will each be broadcast live on big screens.

Each fan who pays admission will receive a commemorative ticket and is invited to attend both an intermission ceremony and a reception immediately following the conclusion of the boys varsity game.

Free parking is available after 5 p.m. in the University of Arkansas lots 56 and 56D.

For those who can’t make it out Friday night, the boys and girls varsity games will be broadcast live tonight on Cox channel 217 and AT&T U-verse channel 99. A live, online stream will also be available at http://events.powerstream.net/002/00487/2011FayettevillePlayer/?contid=live

The gym is set to be demolished over the upcoming Spring Break period as part of a $90+ million transformation of the school. A new competition arena is currently under construction in the southwest quadrant of the campus and is scheduled to be complete in time for the 2012-13 basketball season.
