A firefighter with the Fayetteville Fire Department trains at a vacant Maple Street Apartments building Tuesday.

Todd Gill, Fayetteville Flyer

Fayetteville firefighters are conducting training exercises this week at a vacant Maple Street Apartments building near Frisco Trail an Lafayette Street. The complex owner gave the fire department permission to use the building since it’s set to soon be demolished to make room for a large-scale student housing complex.

Fayetteville Animal Shelter officials yesterday announced the second annual half-price adoption day in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, March 17. Cats are $10 and dogs are $30.

After finishing second in a nationwide competition, the UA’s Full Circle Food Pantry will send representatives to the White House to be recognized for their achievements.

St. Patrick’s Day is this Saturday. Planned events on Dickson Street include an afternoon parade and an evening pub crawl.
