Sergio Andrade

Six officers with the Fayetteville Police Department who were involved in a weekend shooting, including wounded officer Blake Williamson, have been cleared in the incident, according to a news release issued Wednesday.

The officers exchanged fire with Sergio Andrade during a six-hour standoff at Bedford Loop Apartments.

During the incident, police said officer Williamson was struck by a bullet in the leg just above the ankle when Andrade fired several rounds at the officers from an apartment balcony. Williamson underwent surgery on Sunday to remove the bullet and has since been released from the hospital.

Officer Blake Williamson

Andrade was arrested and faces six counts of Attempted Capital Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault, one count of Battery 1st Degree, and one count of Terroristic Act. Bond has been set at $250,000, reports KNWA.

As per department policy, all officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. The investigation revealed no policy violations were committed.

Sergeant John Warren, Corporal Jason Bailey, Corporal Cameron Crafton, Corporal Kurtis Sutley, and Officer Marcus Peace have been cleared to return to full duty as of Wednesday. Officer Williamson has been cleared to return to full duty when he has recovered from his injury.
