Giveaway: Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, April 12 at Walton Arts Center
This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to the winner, Brady Carman.
Grammy Award-winning artist Béla Fleck is coming to Fayetteville in about a month, and as we mentioned recently, he’s bringing with him arguably the best group of Flecktones ever assembled – the original lineup.
The dynamic foursome, including Howard Levy (piano/harmonica), Victor Wooten (bass), Roy “Futureman” Wooten (percussion/drumitar), and of course, Béla Fleck (banjo) will perform at the Walton Arts Center on Thursday, April 12.
According to the band, this may be the last time they tour in this configuration, but lucky for one of you, we’ve got some tickets to give away to the show.
Try to win ‘em.
How to enter
Considering the fact that this show might be the last time you get to see the original lineup of Flecktones perform in Fayetteville, the April 12 show at Walton Arts Center is not to be missed.
Chances are, at one point in your life, you’ve missed a show from an artist that you love and you’re still kicking yourself over it.
Leave a comment telling us what show you missed, and you’re entered. If you can’t think of one, just mention an upcoming show (any upcoming show) that you’re pumped about.
What you’ll win
One lucky winner will win two (2) tickets to the Thursday, April 12 performance by Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, set for 7 p.m. at the Walton Arts Center.
A few rules (read ‘em carefully):

- This contest is open to anyone anywhere except Fayetteville Flyer writers, Walton Arts Center employees, and their immediate family members.
- Contest is open until 12 p.m. CST on Friday, March 30
Make sure you leave a valid e-mail address when filling out the comment form since that’s how we’ll contact you if you’ve won. Once we notify the winners, you’ll have 24 hours to respond via email to claim your prize. - You’ll have to provide us with your first and last name (if you win) and then be prepared to show a valid photo ID when picking up your tickets.

Missed a concert by The Verve when they finally got back together and then they broke up again. One of the most underrated acts.
My husband and I missed The Rolling Stones in Las Vegas on our honeymoon, had to have emergency surgery.
Did you miss the performance because of the emergency surgery, or did you have the emergency surgery because you missed the performance?
Sublime May 24 1996 in Petaluma California.
Last fall Tom Petty was going to be at BOK in Tulsa and I was sooooo excited at the chance to go see one of my all-time favorite bands. Unfortunately my boyfriend had a gig booked that night and so we didn’t make it over to Tulsa. Earlier this year I saw Tom Petty was scheduled to be at Little Rock so I made sure we were going and got awesome floor seats! Now I can’t wait for this show!!!
Truly, I had an unpleasant experience. The BOK Center is stuffy; security everywhere. I was ordered to sit down by the people behind me, and then threatened to have security called when I wouldn’t comply. It’s TOM PETTY, guys! CHILL OUT!
I’ve never understood this. My sister and bro-in-law went to see Paul Simon in Memphis last Halloween, and the people behind them asked them if they would tell the people in front of them to sit down. Sister told them no way, it was Paul Simon!
the get up kids farewell show and reunion show before they got back together.
Wilco at voodoo fest in 07
Keb Mo!
Missed Bela’s last show and would hate to miss him again!
Victor Wooten when he played at Georges about 5 years ago!
I missed seeing Dr. Dog when they were in Fayetteville last =(
I MISSED BOB DYLAN. WHAT IN THE WORLD! I also missed Gov’t Mule at MIM 2010. I was so upset. I don’t want to feel that way again! Help!
The Cure, when they came to Dallas a few years ago. I don’t think they’ve been on tour since, at least not anywhere close. The dramatic misunderstood 16 year old in me is sighing heavily and picking at the black polish on her fingernails.
You missed one helluva show! They were great as they were 20 years earlier. Next time they come around, you must make it!
Gaaaaaaaah. The 16 year old in me is now scribbling angrily in her diary. I WILL see them next time they’re in the States!
I was bummed about missing the Flaming Lips in Tulsa last summer…until I found out the show was cancelled due to weather.
Adele in 2009 before she became well known. Wanted to go so bad but work schedule didn’t allow for it.
Never seen Counting Crows or Rusted Root
Phish at Bonnaroo 2009.
Excited for the summer months of music ahead!
Modest Mouse – Clunk – 2001….
I had heat exhaustion and missed widespread @ waka in 2010. I’d love to see Béla Fleck!
james brown in tulsa!
Zero with Steve Kimock, first show in Fayetteville in the mid 90′s at Chester’s Place. I missed it. Then I saw all the subsequent Kimock appearances in town since (well over 30 shows possibly more than 40 to date).
Frank Zappa in Chicago ’88
Bob Marley, Seattle, 1979 . . .
Celine Dion, before she went to Vegas
I would love to win these for my husband. He missed Elvis Costello in KC. Drove all the way there and they were changing the marquee to canceled because Elvis was sick. He LOVES Victor Wooten. Fave bass player EVER!
Brainiac (last tour), U.S. Maple and the Delta 72 at JR’s. Knew about it and didn’t go. Geez. I’m ridiculous.
I missed the Altamont Free Concert. I hear it was killer.
Grateful Dead in 1995 at the Charlotte Coliseum. I should’ve been there…
Modest Mouse – Sept 2001 at Clunk Music Hall
I missed the Cranberries in 2002 on the outskirts of Rome- I was worried the concert would end after public transportation closed down at midnight and I wouldn’t be able to get home.
Pink Floyd…..

word
Really, really, REALLY wanted to see Blonde Redhead ca. 96-99 and missed every opportunity.
Al Green at the Bumberfest in Seatle, WA. Not sure of the year – late ’80′s early ’90′s. Also, Bill Monroe at a small community hall in Union, Missouri. So sorry I missed that!
Missing Beauty and the Beast at the WAC was a major bummer to me. Especially since the rest of my family went while I had to work.
My son got to see Bela several years ago and told me he was the most talented musician he had ever seen and I had chosen not to attend. I have kicked myself ever since and promised myself that if given the opportunity I would HAVE to see Bela Fleck. I’d love to have this chance!!
I’m pumped for Wilco! Missed em in kc a few months back.
NA
Last month I was planning on seeing Yonder Mountain String Band at George’s, but had to leave town for a family emergency. I’m not kicking myself for missing it, but I’m sure it was a great show.
Back in high school I grabbed great seats to see Rage Against the Machine & Beastie Boys. It was the tour that RATM split up before they made it here. so I never got to see them. I had forgotten {suppressed} it until now—thanks for bringing up such a sad thought.
Rolling stones at war memorial
As a huge Radiohead fan, I was ecstatic at the chance to go to their concert in Orlando in 2008 (when I lived in Florida), but was eventually talked out of it by my dad, who talked to me about the wisdom of saving money to go to College instead.
Fast forward to 2011 when I lived in Arkansas and heard Radiohead was visiting both Dallas and Kansas City! I was even more ecstatic and tried to rope in my friends to go to one or both of those concerts… alas, I waited so long to find a group to go with that tickets to both venues have sold out. I hold my head in shame. What manner of fan am I?
Your dad sucks!
Not really…but that was some bad advice! kids need EXPERIENCES more than they need “education.”
BTW, the Dallas show rocked! If you need a radiohead buddy next time around, hit me up!
Live played a free show in San Francisco back in my younger days and I missed it. Still kicking myself on that one. I did see Victor at Dave’s twice and was fortunate to shake his hand. But I’ve not seen Bela and I would certainly love to.
I missed Levon helms from the band a few years back
I missed radiohead in Dallas :(
I was in Barcelona, Spain at the same time as a Primavera Music Festival. Since I was traveling with a group we had to make a group decision to attend the concert and alter our trip or miss the concert and stick to schedule. We stuck to our original schedule and missed Wilco, The Pixies, Mudhoney, PJ Harvey, James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) to name a few. I am still very bitter about the groups decision (in 2004).
I would still be bitter too. That’s a great lineup.
If you look at the line-up below you can I missed more than the above mentioned. I would kill to see this lineup nowadays… http://www.no-future.com/erutufon/archive/index.php/t-6708.html
I missed the Jenny Lewis show in Fayetteville, bummer!
Can’t miss Bela Fleck the banjo man at the WAC!
I would love to see them at the WAC! Pick me!
I wasn’t born in time to see the Beatles. Stupid parents.
Most recently this years Keb’ Mo. Had unexpected conflicts arise and didn’t make it. Was quite bummed.
Earl Skruggs in ’05.
RIP.
Being a mom of little kids has meant missing many many shows. I don’t regret it but I do miss going and shaking it!
I missed Loretta Lynn when she played back in February at WAC. It would have been the perfect time (around my Birthday and Valentine’s day..) I have always wanted to see her. She is a legend.
radiohead in dallas
I missed J.J. Cale several years ago when he played Dave’s On Dickson. =( Haven’t had the chance to see him again.
Had to leave ACL ’09 early and missed Pearl Jam..heavy on the mind all the time
I missed umphreys mcgee at georges last time they came ;(
Had a slight chance to see Willie Nelson twice.
Once, I let someone else take my place, The other, I thought I couldn’t go – then found out at the last that I could have.
Still hurts.
Really looking forward to 2 nights of umphrey’s in April!
I was sad to miss Keb’Mo — what a great bluesy-jazzy entertainer!
